Welcome to Rotary Club of Madras Down Town
Rotary club of Madras Downtown, a Member of Rotary International was chartered in the year 1993. The club had it’s birth through the sponsorship of another premier club of our district, Rotary Club of Anna Nagar. The Club chartered off with a member strength of 22 and as on today we have 50 active members and the list is ever expanding.
The dedicated team of this Club has Members with strengths in a variety of fields and every one of them is a leader in his business and profession. They have the wisdom to take the right path and the integrity while delivering the services. Our objective is to focus on areas that can be measures for results. We know that not everything that we face can be changed; but we know that nothing can be changed until we face it.
The club as a policy has always looked at supporting services that empowers society to this end, the Club has been supporting hospitals and Educational Institutions in a big way, and today we can proudly claim that a vast section of the community belonging to weaker strata of the society have been immensely benefited by our largesse. Hindu Mission Hospital in Tambaram, Maithree an institution run for the special children of the fishermen folk, Aid India, Gift a future, and Sachidananda Ashram Institutions, Anandam Medical Care, Hope Foundations, Vasantham Home focused towards providing quality education to special children in villages outside Chennai are some of the beneficiaries from our club.

Membership
The club strength has been more or less a consistent feature , ever since it was chartered. The club attracts new members on account of the good service projects undertaken by the club, and on account of excellent profile of the members.
Contribution to Foundation
The club has Three Major Donors and 14 Paul Harris Fellows and as to date contributed directly and indirectly $ 325,000 towards the rotary foundation.
Classification
The club boast of a well distributed classification with members belonging to real estate, manufacturing, It, financial services, education, exports, trading and auto industry.
